CBD Oil for Parkinson’s Disease:
Research on CBD Oil for Parkinson’s Disease suggests that CBD oil could potentially slow the progression of Parkinson’s by acting upon the Endocannabinoid system and to provide neuroprotective effects. The cannabinoids found in full spectrum cbd oil are able to suppress the excitotoxicity, glial activation and oxidative injury that cause the degeneration of the dopamine-releasing neurons. In addition, they improve the function of cell’s mitochondria and activation of cellular debris clearance, further encouraging neuron health.
Significant improvements in well-being and quality of life scores were found in Parkinson’s disease patients that were given daily doses of CBD extract for one week. One case study found that patients treated with CBD, though they didn’t see significant improvements in motor measures or general symptoms, experienced prompt and substantial reductions in the frequency of REM sleep behavior disorder events.
In addition, CBD oil may help with those Parkinson’s’ disease patients experiencing psychosis. Four weeks of CBD caused Parkinson’s disease patients with psychosis to experience a significant decrease in psychotic symptoms as evaluated by the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale and the Parkinson Psychosis Questionnaire17.
What is Parkinson’s Disease?:
Parkinson‘s is a disease of the nervous system that mostly affects older people. It typically begins after the age of 50. The disease can be very hard to live with because it severely restricts mobility and as a result makes daily activities increasingly difficult. Parkinson’s is a progressive disease, which means that in most cases it will continue to gradually get worse. Many people who develop Parkinson’s will require nursing care. There is no cure for the disease and its exact cause is not known, but there are effective treatmentsthat can relieve the symptoms.
Symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease
The signs of Parkinson‘s can be very different. The typical symptoms are:
- Slowed movement (akinesia): Movements can only be performed slowly. Affected people might walk very hesitantly and only take short, increasingly small steps. They find it hard to start moving – taking the first step is often particularly difficult. Once they are moving, it becomes increasingly difficult to stop again, for example to stand still on command. As the disease progresses, the armsstop swinging when walking. Gripping with the handsand tasks that require a certain degree of dexterity like tying shoelaces also become more difficult. Due to reduced activity in the facial muscles, the face becomes more and more mask-like. Speech becomes quiet and monotone and swallowingalso becomes harder.
- Musclestiffness (rigidity):Especially the arms, legs and neckcan become stiff and tense. Even if somebody else tries to move the person’s arms and legs, the musclesusually put up resistance or cannot be moved at all, and stiffen up even more during such attempts. This excessive tensing of the muscles often causes aches.
- Tremorat rest:Most people with Parkinson‘s have a tremor. It decreases during movement. It is particularly common in the hands. That causes people’s handwriting to become smaller and less clear.
The symptoms are often more pronounced on one side of the body. Possible other effects of Parkinson‘s include bladderand digestiondisorders, circulation problems, increased oilsecretionon the skin, difficulties concentrating, and depression.
